The Economy: Another Casualty of War
The bottom line is that our dollar is falling, the economy is in rough 
shape, and government spending is wildly out of control. Congress argues over relatively minor details, instead of dramatically changing our flawed foreign policy. We need to bring our troops home, not only from Iraq and Afghanistan , but from South Korea , Germany , and the other 138 countries where we have troops stationed. Our foreign policy of interventionism is not only offensive to others, inviting further terrorist attacks, but it is ruining our economy as we tax, borrow and print the money to pay the bills of our empire. The economy and ultimately the American people suffer because Washington is refusing to adopt more sensible and constitutional policies.

Nearly 40,000 troops to be deployed in Iraq, Afghanistan
The Pentagon has alerted nearly 40,000 active duty and National Guard soldiers that they will be deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan starting this fall, in a sign that it expects hard fighting to continue on both fronts in what Pentagon officials call “the long war.” The Pentagon suggested that the troops will deploy for not more than 12 months rather than the 15-month rotations that have become the rule in both Iraq and Afghanistan.The units will deploy beginning in late fall and will continue through the end of the year, Army officials said -David Wood/Baltimore Sun

Iran Busts CIA-Backed Terror Group
The Iranian Intelligence Ministry busted a CIA-backed terror group that was planning to bomb scientific, educational, and religious centers, and carry out assassinations, according to a report in the Tehran Times. The arrests come weeks after Ret. Gen. Thomas McInerney urged the U.S. to carry out terror bombings in Iran.
“The Intelligence Ministry on Saturday released details of the detection and dismantling of a terrorist network affiliated to the United States,” reports the newspaper.
“The United States Central Intelligence Agency comprehensively supported the terrorist group by arming it, training its members, and sponsoring its inhumane activities in Iran, the Intelligence Ministry stated.”
The attack on a religious center in Shiraz last month which killed thirteen people and wounded 190 was blamed on the same group and according to the report, “it also had plans to carry out similar attacks on the Tehran International Book Fair, the Russian Consulate in Gilan Province, oil pipelines in southern Iran, and other targets.”

UC Berkeley tenured law professor John Yoo epitomizes the failure of the conservative movement in America. Known as “the torture professor,” Yoo penned the Department of Justice (sic) memos that gave a blank check to sadistic Americans to torture detainees at Guantanamo and Abu Ghraib. The human rights violations that John Yoo sanctioned destroyed America’s reputation and exposed the Bush Regime as more inhumane than the Muslim terrorists. The acts that Yoo justified are felonies under US law and war crimes under the Nuremberg standard.
Yoo’s torture memos are so devoid of legal basis that his close friend and fellow conservative member of the Federalist Society, Jack Goldsmith, rescinded the memos when he was appointed head of the Justice Department’s Office of Legal Counsel.

However, regardless of what the media has deemed a “Win”, no one can win until the national convention which happens in September. Popular votes do not determine what can happen at the national convention. If enough supporters of Ron Paul remain as fervent as they have in the past, and cut through the tape in the Republican Party to hold the seats at the convention, we may be in for a real surprise. At the convention the delegates will not only decide the nominee, but they will also decide party platforms and the direction of the Republican Party.
So will Ron Pauls supporters persist as delegates until September? Will McCain’s campaign be wiped out by his possible violation of public campaign finance rules? Much is left to see as the 2008 presidential election continues forward.
